The Complete Guide to Double Tracks & Rods

Functional Day-to-Night Lighting

The Double System

A double system utilizes two parallel lines of hardware to seamlessly transition your space from day to night:

  • The Inside Layer (Sheer): Filters harsh sunlight and prevents glare while keeping the room bright and private during the day.
  • The Outside Layer (Blackout): Blocks out 100% of external light to create an optimal, dark sleeping environment at night.

Bracket Engineering & The 3-Inch Rule

Bracket Engineering & The 3-Inch Rule

The core of a double system lies entirely in its bracket design. To ensure effortless operation, our hardware is engineered around a strict clearance standard:

  • The 3-Inch Standard: We maintain a precise spacing of over 3 inches between the two parallel lines.
  • Friction-Free Gliding: This intentional gap prevents the two layers of fabric from rubbing against each other, eliminating friction and jamming.
  • Pleat Protection: Whether you choose high-volume Ripple Fold or classic Pleated drapery, this clearance ensures both layers move flawlessly and completely independent of one another.

Spacing & Measurement Guide

Spacing & Measurement Guide

For Independent Single Hardware

  • Measure Fabric Depth
Check the side projection profile of both your sheer and blackout curtains to see how far the folds extend.
  • Mark the Centerlines
Plot parallel lines on the ceiling, leaving at least 3 inches of clearance between the centerlines to prevent fabric collision.
  • Secure the Brackets
Mount your independent single brackets directly onto the marked positions.
